GCCF Registration Policy For Abyssinian Cats

Agreed / effective 23 June 1999

FULL REGISTER
Abyssinian cats with full or provisional recognition which have in their pedigrees within five generations only Abyssinian cats, with the exception of those cats whose pedigrees include within five generations Abyssinians with preliminary recognition, shall be placed on the Full Register.
SUPPLEMENTARY REGISTER
Abyssinian cats with full or provisional recognition which have in their pedigrees only Abyssinian cats for five generations shall be placed on the Supplementary Register.
EXPERIMENTAL REGISTER
Abyssinian cats with preliminary recognition which have in their pedigrees within five generations only Abyssinian cats shall be placed on the Experimental Register.
NO OUTCROSSES ARE ALLOWED AND THERE ARE NO VARIANTS.
REFERENCE REGISTER

Any outcrosses are to be placed on the Reference Register without progression. Any imported Abyssinian which does not have the required satisfactory certified pedigree from the country of origin to fulfil the requirements of the Full, Supplementary or Experimental Registers to be placed on the Reference Register, without progression. All progeny of either group remaining on the Reference Register unless an application is made by the BAC to allow them to progress.
