GCCF Registration Policy For Burmese Cats

Agreed/effective 21 June 1995

1. Progeny from matings between Breed Numbers 27, 27a, 27b, 27c, 27d, 27e, 27f, 27g, 27h, and 27j only to be accepted on the Full Register.
2. Cats on the Full Register must have five generations of Burmese to Burmese matings in their immediate ancestry.
3. Cats where Silver or Longhair appear within 5 generations of their pedigrees, shall not be accepted onto the Full or Supplementary Register.
4. a) Any Phenotype Burmese which have on their pedigrees within 5 generations Longhair, Siamese, British Shorthair, Manx, Russian, Abyssinian, Korat, Devon or Cornish Rex, Foreign or Oriental Shorthairs, Balinese, Angora, Somali, cats of unknown ancestry, or any other cat which is not in the Breed 27 group will be placed on the Reference Register. The number of generations to be increased to 12 when practical.
b) Similarly, those with Silver, Smoke, Ticked, Caramel or Cinnamon in their pedigrees within 5 generations will be accepted onto the Reference Register only, or the Experimental Register on being granted preliminary recognition by the GCCF. The number of generations to be increased to 12 when practical.
5. Progeny of any matings described in 3. or 4. above cannot be dealt with retrospectively and will have to be allowed to continue the progression that their present register would allow them.
6. Before any further colours of Burmese can be developed the Burmese Breed Advisory Committee must be consulted. From 28 February 1990 any progeny from parents of any breed not included in 1. above shall be registered on the Reference Register and so shall their suitable offspring for the required number of generations.
No imported Burmese, nor their progeny, shall be registered with a GCCF Burmese breed number. If a Burmese cat is imported and bred from, when sufficient evidence is available to confirm that the Contemporary genes are not present in the descendants, the registration status of this specific cat may be reviewed.
