GCCF Registration Policy For Korat & Thai Cats

A. FULL REGISTER
Blue cats shall be registered as Korat (34) on the Full Register only if three generations (both their parents and the two preceding generations ) are registered as Korat with Full or third generation
Supplementary registration.
The registration certificate of any Korat which is the offspring of a cat or cats which has/have proved by previous breeding to produce lilac cats, and of its descendants, shall be overstamped "MAY CARRY THE CHOCOLATE GENE".
B. SUPPLEMENTARY REGISTER
i) Blue cats with two parents which are registered Korats, but where either or both parent(s) are first or second generation Supplementary Register or third generation Reference Register, shall be registered as Korat (34) on the Supplementary Register.
ii) Blue cats with a parent which is registered as "Thai Lilac" (as in Section C.i) shall be registered as Korat (34) on the Supplementary Register. The registration certificate of all such cats shall be overstamped "CARRIES THE CHOCOLATE GENE". The registration certificates of subsequent blue offspring Of such cats shall be overstamped "MAY CARRY THE CHOCOLATE GENE", until cleared by test matings.
iii) Blue cats with a parent which is registered as "Thai Blue Point" (as in Section C.ii) shall be registered as Korat (34) on the Supplementary Register. The registration certificate of all such cats shall be overstamped "CARRIES THE SIAMESE GENE" and the registration certificates of their offspring shall be overstamped "MAY CARRY THE SIAMESE GENE", until cleared by test matings.
iv) Blue cats with a parent which is registered as "Thai Lilac Point (as in Section D.ii) shall be registered as Korat (34) on the Supplementary Register. The registration certificate of all such cats shall be overstamped "CARRIES THE CHOCOLATE GENE"and "CARRIES THE SIAMESE GENE". The registration certificates of subsequent offspring shall be overstamped "MAY CARRY THE CHOCOLATE GENE" and "MAY CARRY THE SIAMESE GENE", until cleared by test matings.
C. EXPERIMENTAL REGISTER
i) Cats that are lilac, born to parents who have in their pedigree within three generations only Korat (34), Thai Lilac (34c), Thai Blue Point (34 40 2) or Thai Lilac Point, shall be placed on the Experimental Register as Thai Lilac.
ii) Cats that are blue pointed, born to parents who have in their pedigree within three generations only Korat (34), Thai Lilac (34c), Thai Blue Point (34 40 2) or Thai Lilac Point, shall be placed on the Experimental Register as Thai Blue Point.
D. REFERENCE REGISTER
i) Korats from Thailand with an unregistered parent or parents shall be placed on the Reference Register.
ii) Cats that are lilac pointed, born to parents who have in their pedigree within three generations only Korat (34), Thai Lilac (34c), Thai Blue Point (34 40 2) or Thai Lilac Point, shall be placed on the Reference Register and be described as "Thai Lilac Point" until such time as these cats may receive Preliminary recognition.
GM1/GM2 GANGLIOSIDOSIS TESTING SCHEME
A. ACTIVE REGISTER
Korats and cats of Korat type may be registered on the Active Register, at the breeder's request, only if:
1) They have themselves been genetically tested as normal for GM1 and GM2 gangliosidosis. Veterinary Certification of test results is required.
2) Both parents have been tested normal as in A. 1)
3) They are from parents deemed normal because of the results from the testing (as in A. 1) of cats on every pedigree line in previous generations. Pedigree line in this case refers to both parents, or 4 grandparents, 8 great-grandparents, 16 great-great-grandparents and so on, or any combination of the same which is inclusive of both the sire's and dam's ancestors.
B. GENETIC REGISTER
1) Korats and cats of Korat type which have been genetically tested as carriers of GM1 or GM2 gangliosidosis shall be registered on the Genetic Register, or on the Non-Active Register if so requested by the breeder. Any such cats which are already registered on the Active Register shall be moved to the Genetic Register.
2) Korats and cats of Korat type which are not eligible for registration on the Active Register shall be registered on the Genetic Register, or on the Non-Active Register if so requested by the breeder.
3) Offspring of cats registered on the Genetic Register may only be registered on the Active Register if they have themselves been genetically tested as normal for GM1 and GM2 gangliosidosis.
4) All other offspring of cats registered on the Genetic Register shall be registered on the Genetic Register, or on the Non-Active Register if so requested by the breeder.
