GCCF Registration Policy For ocicats

Agreed/effective 20th February 2008

BREEDS PERMITTED IN THE PEDIGREES OF OCICATS
A: Ocicats: breeds 73, 73a, 73b, 73c, 73k, 73r, 73s, 73as, 73bs, 73cs, 73ks, 73rs.
B: Ocicats of unrecognised colours or patterns, which are bred from two Ocicat parents or from an Ocicat x Ocicat F2 variant. These are smoke cats, cats with a classic tabby pattern and cats with the Siamese restriction of coat colour/pattern (Blue-Eyed Ivory) or cats with the Burmese/Tonkinese restriction of coat colour/pattern (AOC-Eyed Ivory).
C: Abyssinians of breeds 23, 23a, 23b, 23c, 23d, 23e, 23s, 23as, 23bs, 23cs, 23ds, 23es only. NB: sex-linked colours are excluded.
Any Abyssinians used for outcrossing must have tested clear for Pyrucate Kinase (PK) deficiency, or be deemed clear due to testing of cats on every pedigree line in previous generations. Pedigree line in this case refers to both parents, or four grandparents, eight great-grandparents, sixteen great-greatgrandparents and so on, or any combination of the same which is inclusive of both the sire's and dam's ancestors.
CATS ON THE FULL REGISTER
Ocicats with Full or Provisional recognition which have in their pedigrees within the preceding four generations only Ocicats (as listed in A above) shall be registered on the Full Register, with the exception of those cats whose pedigrees include within three generations a cat with Preliminary recognition.
CATS ON THE SUPPLEMENTARY REGISTER
Ocicats with Full or Provisional recognition which have in their pedigrees within the preceding five generations only Ocicats (as listed in A and B above), Ocicat Variants or Abyssinians (as listed in C above) shall be registered on the Supplementary Register.
EXPERIMENTAL REGISTER
Ocicats with Preliminary recognition which have in their pedigrees within the preceding five only Ocicats (as listed in A and B above) Ocicat Variants or Abyssinians (as listed in C above and deemed clear of PK deficiency) shall be registered on the Experimental Register.
REFERENCE REGISTER 1: Ocicat Variants
The progeny of an Ocicat x Abyssinian mating (deemed clear of PK deficiency and excluding sex-linked colours) shall be registered on the Reference Register as an Ocicat Variant (F1). The spotted progeny of an Ocicat Variant (F1) x Ocicat mating shall be registered on the appropriate Register as an Ocicat. When registering such a cat, the breeder shall supply a copy of the pedigree and request that the cat be registered on the Supplementary, Experimental or Reference Register as appropriate.
The non spotted progeny of an Oriental Variant (F1) x Ocicat mating shall be registered on the Reference Register as an Ocicat Variant (F2) The progeny of an Ocicat Variant (F2) x Ocicat mating shall be registered on the appropriate Register as an Ocicat. When registering such a cat, the breeder shall supply a copy of the pedigree and request that the cat be registered on the Supplementary, Experimental or Reference Register as appropriate.
REFERENCE REGISTER 2: Ocicats of unrecognised colours/patterns
Ocicats of colours which do not yet have Preliminary recognition but which have in their pedigrees within the preceding five generations only Ocicats, Ocicat Variants or Abyssinians (deemed clear of PK deficiency) shall be registered on the Reference Register but shall be considered as registered on the Experimental Register in the event of Preliminary recognition of their breed.
REFERENCE REGISTER 3:
All progeny of Variant x Variant matings will be registered on the Reference Register as 'no recognised breed' with no progression. Cats of Ocicat appearance produced from matings to other recognised breeds whose Registration Policies permit Ocicats as an outcross breed shall be registered as directed by the Registration Policy for the other breed, but with no reference to Ocicat type, and shall not be permitted in the pedigrees of Ocicats. All other cats of Ocicat appearance which in their pedigrees within the preceding five generations have any breeds other than Ocicats or Abyssinians shall be registered on the Reference Register as 'no recognised breed' with no progression.
