Agreed/effective 18 February 2004
This policy is for the registration of all Snowshoe cats, within the Foreign Shorthair breed section of the GCCF. In this document ‘Snowshoe’ shall describe all shorthaired cats as described below. This policy shall exclude registration of all cats that are not Snowshoes or have not been bred as foundation stock for the Snowshoe breeding programme.

Snowshoe Variants, the long haired offspring of Snowshoe matings; the long haired offspring of Snowshoe to Ragdolls matings; the short haired bi-coloured offspring of Snowshoe matings or those short haired pointed offspring with no white markings, are all acceptable in the pedigrees of Snowshoes.

NB Previously acceptable crosses from Birmans to produce foundation stock cats is no longer acceptable, because of the recessive nature of the gloving gene, these cats shall be placed on the reference register and their offspring also, with no chance of progress to another register. Cats already being used for foundation stock with Birmans in their pedigrees will be placed on the appropriate register and their offspring shall be eligible to progress.
All red, cream or apricot Snowshoes with one or more Tabby Point parents must be registered as red, cream or apricot tabbies until proved otherwise. No cat may be registered as red, cream or apricot tabby unless it has an agouti parent.
