GCCF Registration Policy For Tonkinese Cats

BREEDS PERMITTED IN THE PEDIGREE OF TONKINESE CATS (74)
1 . Tonkinese: Tonkinese with the typical coat pattern expressed in any of the following colours: Brown, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac, Caramel, these colours in the tortie and tortie tabby, Red, Cream, Apricot and all eight colours in Tabby.
2. Tonkinese Variant: A cat from the mating of a Tonkinese to a Tonkinese, a Tonkinese Variant, a Burmese or a Siamese but whose coat pattern is either Burmese or Siamese in appearance in any of the colours and/or patterns in 1 above.
3. Burmese and Siamese: On their respective Full Registers but only in accordance with the requirements of the Tonkinese registration policy given below.
Note: All offspring of Tonkinese Variants mated to the similar breed of origin, i.e. Tonkinese Variants with Burmese coat pattern x Burmese, or Tonkinese Variants with Siamese Goat pattern x Siamese, will be registered as the appropriate coat pattern Tonkinese Variants.
FULL REGISTER
Tonkinese with Championship or Provisional status which have only Tonkinese and/or Tonkinese Variants in their pedigree within three (3) preceding generations. Any application to register the progeny of Tonkinese Variants on the Full Register must be accompanied by a letter requesting this.
SUPPLEMENTARY REGISTER
Tonkinese with Championship or Provisional status which have in their pedigree, within three (3) preceding generations, only Tonkinese on the Full, Supplementary or Experimental Registers, or Tonkinese Variants and
i) The progeny of Tonkinese or Tonkinese Variants mated with either Burmese or Siamese on their respective Full Registers, born on or before 31 December 1996.
ii) The progeny of Burmese on the Full Register mated to Siamese on the Full Register born on or before 31 December 1998.
EXPERIMENTAL REGISTER
Tonkinese with Preliminary recognition which have in their pedigree, within (3) preceding generations, only Tonkinese or Tonkinese Variants and
i) The progeny of Tonkinese or Tonkinese Variants mated with either Burmese or Siamese on their respective Full Registers, born on or before 31 December 1996.
ii) The progeny of Burmese on the Full Register mated with Siamese on the Full Register born on or before 31 December 1998.
REFERENCE REGISTER
All Tonkinese Variants plus
i) Tonkinese or Tonkinese Variants from the mating of a Tonkinese or Tonkinese Variant to a Burmese or Siamese on the Full Register, born on or between I January 1997 and 31 December 2006 (see Note 1 below), or the progeny from these cats, that have in their pedigree, within three (3) preceding generations, Burmese or Siamese on the Full Register.
ii) Tonkinese from the mating of a Burmese on the Full Register to a Siamese on the Full Register, born on or after 1 January 1999, or the progeny from these cats, that have in their pedigree, within three (3) preceding generations, Burmese or Siamese on the Full Register.
Note 1: Any progeny, born on or after 1 January 2007, from the mating of a Tonkinese or Tonkinese Variant with any other breed (including Burmese and Siamese) will be registered as “no recognised breed”.
Note 2: All Red, Cream and Apricot Tonkinese with one or more Tabby parent(s) must be registered as Red, Cream or Apricot tabbies until proven otherwise.
